Popping vitamin E and C supplements may protect against Alzheimer¡¯s disease, according to new findings.
A study led by the Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health reports that participants who took a combination of vitamin E and C supplements tended to have a lower rate of Alzheimer¡¯s disease. The trend remained, even after controlling for participants¡¯ age, sex, education and general health. However, there was no notable reduction in the risk of Alzheimer¡¯s disease with vitamin E or C alone or with multivitamin.
The combination of individual supplements may offer protection, as the vitamin doses are higher than in multivitamins.
