 Tips on Pregnancy & Lactation
1.
During pregnancy, the high level of body hormones lessens the normal daily hair loss. After delivery, mothers may increase hair loss due to the changes of body hormones eg. progesterone & estrogen. However, the total amount of hair lose is only equivalent to the hair that should have been shed during pregnancy. Generally, mothers start to lose their hair at the 4th month and stop at the 6th month after delivery. (http://my.webmd.com/content/article/14/3609_127.htm )
2,
Morning sickness is common during early months pregnancy. Pregnant women are encouraged to take small frequent dry meals of easily digested carbohydrate foods and low-fat diet to relieve sickness. Liquid beverages are best taken between meals. (Mahan, L.K & Escott-Stump, S. 1996. Krause’s food, nutrition, & diet therapy. 9th ed. Philadelphia: W.B. Saunders Company)
3.
During breastfeeding, some infants prefer one breast to the other. To overcome this bias, change breasts by sliding the infant across your abdomen, keeping the infant’s head and mouth oriented in the same plane/ direction as both breasts. (Medical Tribune)
